What takes place at Freshmen Orientation
9th Grade OrientationPlan to be at EHS for the annual 9th Grade Orientation Evening for all Freshmen and their parents/guardians. In order to have a less crowded and more hands-on event for our families we planned the evening in 3 sessions:
Wednesday, August 30, 2017
For Incoming Freshmen and their Parents/Guardians
Last names: A – G 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Last names: H – N 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Last names: O – Z 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
If your assigned time does not work, feel free to attend a session that works better for you and your family. You should plan for just one of these 3 sessions and stay for the entire session. We are aware of other Eagan schools’ orientation events happening the same evening. Please feel free to choose a time that works for your family. Please dress casually.
Each of the three sessions begins with a large meeting in the Main Gym (use the East entrance, nearest the student parking lot). After a brief ‘Welcome’ program, the students depart with their Link Crew Leaders for a building tour.
Receive their 2017-18 Fall Trimester class schedule
Receive their locker location and combination
Have their school I.D./Yearbook photo taken.
Link Crew students (grades 11-12) will help students learn their way around the school and get acquainted as a group.
Parent meetings will happen concurrently and tips will be given on how to have a smooth and successful transition into high school for themselves and their students. EHS veteran parents will cover key information and answer parents’ questions. Parent Link Leaders will conduct these small group meetings. Afterwards, students and parents will re-unite in the Student Commons. The entire session for each group is 2 hours in length.
During the evening there will be opportunities for purchasing an EHS student planner which is required for 9th graders; cost is $5. We will also be set up to:
- deposit money into your student’s lunch account
- pay for the Freshman Respect Retreat
- pay for the Freshman Tailgate Party
- sign up to be a Parent Volunteer
- purchase a student Athletic Pass for $60; they are good for all EHS and other District high school's home games throughout 2017-18
- purchase copies of the EHS 2017-2018 Calendar & Handbook for $5 (this is also available online)
SchoolView/FeePay Account: There will be hands-on assistance for setting up this helpful, online program for paying lunch accounts, athletic registrations, co-curricular activities, field trips, etc.
