The American flag stands as a symbol of hope and freedom to many people. Others see it as a symbol of oppression and hatred. In many ways, the flag is a perfect symbol for the nation it represents. The United States, as a nation, has much to love and much to question; yet it stands for a hope that we can make a more perfect union.

The AP United States History course aims to examine both the positive and negative aspects of our collective history. We begin our examination with the colonization of North America and conclude with the transition to the 21st Century and the election of President Barack Obama.
