Contemporary Fiction


Promoting lifelong reading habits is the main objective of this course for juniors and seniors. Modern fiction is a course where reading, understanding and appreciation of popular contemporary fiction will be the emphasis. Students will read, write about and discuss a wide range of genres including science fiction, romance, suspense, adventure and multicultural literature. Novels and short stories by such popular writers as Tim O’Brien, Ursula LeGuin, Sandra Benitez, John Grisham, and Ray Bradbury will be read. Successful completion of this course fulfills the literature requirement for graduation.
